Maldives all-glass undersea restaurant in the world opens its doors

The Maldives 15 April marks the day that the first ever all-glass undersea restaurant in the world opens its doors for business at the Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. It will sit five meters below the waves of the Indian OCEAN surrounded by a vibrant coral reef and encased in clear acrylic offering diners 270-degrees of panoramic underwater views.
"We have used aquarium technology to put diners face-to-face with the stunning underwater environment of the Maldives", says Carsten Schieck, General Manager of Hilton Maldives Resort & Spa. "Our guests always comment on being blown away by the colour, clarity, and beauty of the underwater world in the Maldives, so it seemed the perfect idea to build a restaurant where diners can experience fine cuisine and take time to enjoy the views - without ever getting their feet wet."
Created by MJ Murphy Ltd, a design consultancy based in New Zealand, Its distinctive feature is the use of curved transparent acrylic walls and roof, similar to those used in aquarium attractions. "The fact that the entire restaurant except for the floor is made of clear acrylic makes this unique in the world," continues Schieck, "We are currently planting a coral garden on the reef to add to the spectacular views of the rays, sharks and many colourful fish that live around the area.

Fascinating events-Rescue operation

A woman turned over in her boat in the swirling water at the base of a dam. She couldn’t get out and rescue boats couldn’t come near enough to pull her out.
Who do you think came into her rescue?... An ordinary guy, a construction worker saw her and without thinking he and his crew made a rescue operation involving a crane. The worker hung on the chains that were attached to the crane and then he was lowered to the water by the crane and could grab the woman’s hand and pulled her out.

Amazing pictures of objects devoured by the Jungle

The jungle is eating into everything in its way: cars, planes, statues, temples, churches. Nothing seems safe from the clutches of nature.

The At Prom temple complex in Angkor, Cambodia surely offers some astounding views of tree versus structure. At a closer look, this picture is even a bit scary, given how the trees are advancing from the top and from the ground.

This amazing detail was captured in Cambodia at the Angkor Wat temple complex. Notice how the tree has taken on the colour of the temple ruin (or is it the other way round?) and seems to be part of the structure, like a giant snake peeking down from the top. Don't miss how the roots have pushed the stone blocks apart.

In this picture of another structure in At Prom, it looks like the tree first destroyed the temple and then changed its mind by deciding to form a second temple entrance.

Here's a beautiful example of the power of a kapok tree in Angkor, Cambodia. Doesn't it look like a thin, white hand gripping the wall tightly?

Even this Buddha statue couldn't escape the Banyan tree's grip in Bangkok, Thailand. But being Buddha, he seems quite content with it.

Even in Mexico, the Mayan ruins in Palenque have fared no better than the others: they are slowly being eaten up by the greedy jungle.

Even vehicles are not safe from the clutches of the jungle - this jeep looks like it's been there a while. Notice how onetree root has grown around it.

This plane, too, has seen better days. It is now a rotting attraction in the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary in Belize.

What looks like the skeleton of a truck was actually once a plane too. What we can see here are the tail, elevators, rudder and the tail gunner of a plane used in World War II and crashed in Guam.

Even boats are devoured by the jungle like this one here in Nicaragua.

Okay, this is technically not a jungle though residents of Georgia, USA might know better but here, a creeper called kudzu has taken over so completely that one can barely make out what the vegetation is covering (it was a house).

This stone house in Cairns, Australia is still maintained by someone (notice the flower pots in the front) but don't be fooled, the rainforest is approaching fast!
